On October 2004, Chris Andersen, a journalist from Wired magazine, issued an article about the long tail. This article soon became a popular topic and gave a new way to look at modern business model. In short, The long tail shows that the retail business' significant profits came from the selling of the large variety of less popular items. Long tail is not just happened in the economic aspects, it's also occurred in the other human's aspects such as social and politic. And since internet already become the part of human life, there's a suspicion that maybe the long tail also occurred in our internet usage. This research observes the traffic by seeing the bandwidth usage for each port that detected, then by using the long tail principal this research try to show whether there are long tail phenomena or not in bandwidth usage, and if long tail exist hopefully it can give us a new way too look at our internet usage.
