Abstract
This research is aimed to find out the effect of using the Flipped Classroom
model on grade VII student’s interest and engagement in science practicum activity
at XYZ school West Jakarta. This research use the pre-experimental quantitative
study with one shot case study approach. Total population of grade VII students
were choosed to participate in this research. The reseacher used student’s
questionnaire, observation sheet and interview to collect the data. The technique
used to test the hypothesis is Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method with
Partial Least Square (PLS) approach by using smartPLS software. The result
showed that there is positive effect of using the Flipped Classroom model on grade
VII student’s interest and engagement in science practicum activity. The path
coefficient results that explained the amount of given contribution of independent
variable to each dependent variable in this experiment is .455 on student’s interest
and .524 on student’s engagement respectively. / Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model
Flipped Classroom terhadap minat dan keterlibatan siswa (student’s engagement)
kelas VII pada kegiatan praktikum IPA di sekolah XYZ Jakarta Barat. Metode yang
digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif pre-experimental dengan
pendekatan one shot case study. Seluruh populasi kelas VII dipilih untuk terlibat
dalam penelitian ini. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar angket untuk
mengetahui partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran Flipped Classroom dan
keterlibatan maupun minat siswa pada kegiatan praktikum IPA, lembar observasi,
dan wawancara. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis adalah metode
Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) dengan pendekatan Partial Least Square
(PLS) melalui bantuan software smartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
ada pengaruh dengan arah yang positif dari penggunaan model Flipped Classroom
terhadap minat dan keterlibatan siswa kelas VII pada kegiatan praktikum IPA.
Besaran masing-masing koefisien jalur yang menjelaskan besarnya kontribusi dari
variabel independen ke variabel dependen adalah 0,455 untuk minat siswa dan
0,524 untuk keterlibatan siswa.
