Abstract

Rapidly growing globalization makes it easy for all people on the planet to access, download and receive all the information quickly and whenever they need it, because it has evolved and found a new media where all the messages has been decentralized through communications. Utilization of new media is done by all celebrities from various countries and one of them is from the South Korea country whereas this development drags many people into popular culture or called pop culture. Because of that, south korea is able to produce celebrities continuously called Korean Pop, then they have a lot of fans and fanbase as support for celebrities who are called idol. This research uses qualitative approach with case study research method. The research data were collected using primary data which is in-depth interview and non participant observation, and secondary data were literature study and documentation. The interview was conducted to key informant as owner of GDragonINA fanbase and also follower of GDragonINA fanbase which is G-Dragon fans. The results show that the fan project as a form to create parasocial interaction cannot be established in both directions because parasocial interaction is an imaginary relationship and one-way relationship, although the informant feels the response of the idol this is only a unilateral response and it is not known whether the idol also felt the same one.
