Abstract

Latar Belakang: Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) merupakan salah satu indikator penting dalam dunia perguruan tinggi. Mahasiswa kerap dituntut untuk mendapatkan IPK yang baik agar memiliki peluang yang lebih besar untuk diterima kerja ataupun untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi IPK adalah ponsel pintar. Manfaat dari ponsel pintar yang begitu banyak dapat digunakan oleh mahasiswa untuk membantu proses pembelajaran sehingga dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan prestasi akademik. Akan tetapi ponsel pintar juga kerap digunakan sebagai alat untuk menikmati media hiburan yang dapat menyebabkan kecanduan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecanduan penggunaan ponsel pintar terhadap tingkat motivasi belajar dan nilai Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif pada mahasiswa preklinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metodologi: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain studi potong lintang dengan tipe studi analitik komparatif kategorik tidak berpasangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan dengan sampel minimum sebanyak 95 orang. Data yang diperoleh kemudian akan dianalisa menggunakan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 23 secara bivariat. Hasil: Dari sebanyak 103 responden yang ikut serta dalam penelitian ini, 70 mahasiswa mengalami kecanduan penggunaan ponsel pintar, 94 mahasiswa memiliki nilai IPK yang memuaskan, dan 65 mahasiswa memiliki tingkat motivasi belajar yang tinggi. Hubungan antara kecanduan penggunaan ponsel pintar terhadap nilai IPK ditemukan memiliki nilai p sebesar 0,029. Hubungan antara kecanduan penggunaan ponsel pintar terhadap tingkat motivasi belajar ditemukan memiliki nilai p sebesar 0,013. Hubungan antara tingkat motivasi belajar terhadap nilai IPK ditemukan memiliki nilai p sebesar 0,000. Kesimpulan: Ditemukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara kecanduan penggunaan ponsel pintar dengan tingkat motivasi belajar dan nilai IPK pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Kata Kunci: Prestasi Akademik, Kecanduan Smartphone, Motivasi Belajar Referensi: 1991 - 2023 / Background: Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is an important indicator in the world of higher education. Students are often required to get a good CGPA so they have a greater chance of being accepted for work or continuing their education to a higher level. One factor that can influence CGPA is the use of smartphone. The many benefits of smartphones can be used by students to help learning process hence increasing learning motivation and academic achievement. However, smartphones are also often used as a tool to enjoy entertainment which can cause smartphone addiction. Research Objective: To determine the relationship between smartphone use addiction towards level of learning motivation and Cumulative Grade Point Average value among preclinic students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University. Methodology: This research was conducted with a cross-sectional study design with an unpaired categorical comparative analytical study type. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University with a minimum sample of 95 people. The data obtained will then be analysed using SPSS version 23 software in a bivariate manner. Results: Of the 103 respondents who took part in this research, 70 students were addicted to using smartphones, 94 students had satisfactory CGPA scores, and 65 students had a high level of learning motivation. The relationship between smartphone use addiction and CGPA was found to have a p-value of 0.029. The relationship between smartphone use addiction towards the level of learning motivation was found to have a p-value of 0.013. The relationship between the level of learning motivation and the CGPA value was found to have a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: It was found that there was a significant relationship between smartphone use addiction towards level of learning motivation and CGPA value among students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University.
