Abstract
Personal branding merupakan salah satu strategi komunikasi yang penting di media sosial untuk membangun citra diri. Influencer di platform seperti TikTok banyak menggunakan personal branding untuk mengelola cara pandang audiens terhadap mereka. Sebagai seorang influencer, memiliki personal branding yang kuat menjadi krusial untuk membedakan diri dari yang lain. Salah satu influencer TikTok yang memiliki personal branding yang solid di bidang olahraga badminton adalah Bernika Averina dengan akun @bernika_ave. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi personal branding yang dilakukan oleh Bernika Averina sebagai influencer olahraga badminton di TikTok serta untuk memahami mengapa TikTok merupakan platform yang efektif untuk membangun personal branding.
Penelitian ini mengadopsi konsep The Eight Laws of Personal Branding oleh Peter Montoya dan Tim Vandehey, serta konsep The 3Cs of Personal Branding oleh Avinash Pawar dan Impression Management Theory oleh Erving Goffman. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif naratif dengan metode wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi personal branding yang diterapkan oleh Bernika Averina selaras dengan teori dan konsep yang dijabarkan dalam studi ini, meskipun terdapat beberapa aspek yang menonjol dan beberapa area yang masih bisa ditingkatkan. Penelitian lanjutan dapat mengembangkan studi ini dengan menggunakan teori lain, mengeksplorasi platform media sosial yang berbeda, dan memperhatikan perubahan tren media sosial yang berkembang pesat dari waktu ke waktu./
Personal branding was one of the important communication strategies on social media to build self-image. Influencers on platforms like TikTok often used personal branding to manage how their audience viewed them. As an influencer, having a strong personal branding was crucial to distinguish oneself from others. One TikTok influencer who had a solid personal branding in the field of badminton was Bernika Averina with the account @bernika_ave. This study aimed to analyze the personal branding strategy carried out by Bernika Averina as a badminton sports influencer on TikTok and to understand why TikTok was an effective platform for building personal branding.
This study adopted the concept of The Eight Laws of Personal Branding by Peter Montoya and Tim Vandehey, as well as the concept of The 3Cs of Personal Branding by Avinash Pawar and Impression Management Theory by Erving Goffman. The approach used in this study was qualitative narrative with semi- structured interview methods and observations. The results of the study showed that the personal branding strategy implemented by Bernika Averina was in line with the theories and concepts described in the study, although there were several aspects that stood out and several areas that could still be improved. Further research could develop the study by using other theories, exploring different social media platforms, and paying attention to the rapidly changing social media trends over time.
