Abstract

Ditemukan adanya hubungan bermakna signifikan antara tingkat risiko Obstructive Sleep Apnea dan kemungkinan adanya Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease pada pasien poliklinik rawat jalan Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Gedung B. / Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder characterized by a pause in breathing for at least 10 seconds during sleep. Over 1 billion people worldwide experience OSA, with approximately 425 million adults aged 30-69 facing moderate to severe degrees. In Indonesia, the estimated prevalence of OSA in men is around 14%, and in women, it is about 5%. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a digestive disorder resulting from the backward flow of stomach contents into the esophagus, has a prevalence of 27.4% in Indonesia. 80% of GERD symptoms are chronic and can elevate the risk of complications such as esophageal ulcers, narrowing of the esophagus, Barrett's esophagus, and adenocarcinoma. While OSA and GERD often coexist, the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Further research is needed to comprehend the complex interaction between OSA and GERD and its implications for the diagnosis and management of patients with both disorders. This study aims to determine the relationship between the risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in outpatient polyclinic patients at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Gedung B. This study uses cross-sectional. The respondents for this study are 132 outpatient polyclinic patients at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Gedung B that matches the study criteria. This study will be conducted from January 2024 to April 2024. Data from the respondents will be collected through the completion of the STOP-BANG Questionnaire and GERD-Questionnaire performed directly in written form. The sampling method used in this study is purposive sampling. Data analysis will be conducted using SPSS software version 29.0, using the chi-square test and the multivariate logistic regression. Among 68 patients with moderate to severe OSA, 57 (83.8%) exhibited a likelihood of GERD. The p-value was 0.003, with an Odds Ratio (OR) of 3.545 and a 95% Confidence Interval (CI) of 1.568 to 8.016. A significant and meaningful association has been found between the risk level of OSA and the likelihood of GERD.
