Abstract
Data mengenai tingkat mindfulness dan envy diukur menggunakan skala Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) dan Indonesian Translation of the Dispositional Benign and Malicious Envy Scale (BeMaS). As a generation that has grown up with technology, Generation Z is expected to face increasing social comparison. Experts agree that social comparison can lead to increased envy. So it can be said that Generation Z is more susceptible to envy. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between mindfulness and benign envy and malicious envy in Generation Z, the first generation to grow up entirely alongside technology. The sample of this study is 118 Generation Z respondents from two provinces in Indonesia with the highest internet penetration, which are DKI Jakarta Province and Banten Province. Data on the level of mindfulness and envy were measured using the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and the Dispositional Benign and Malicious Envy Scale (BeMaS) in Indonesian. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical test, normality test, linearity test, heteroscedasticity test, and hypothesis were tested using simple linear regression test to find the relationship between these variables. The results showed that mindfulness did not have a significant effect on envy. Therefore, the hypothesis about the relationship between those variables was rejected.
