Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-compassion on career decisionmaking self-efficacy among college students Self-compassion is defined as an individual’s ability to accept and show compassion toward themselves, even when facing difficulties, failures, or having experienced negative events. Meanwhile, career decision-making self-efficacy refers to an individual’s confidence in their ability to make career decisions, which plays a crucial role in helping students set realistic goals, prepare for entering the workforce, and face future career challenges. This research is based on the understanding that entering the workforce often causes stress for emerging adults, particularly college students aged 18-25, as they encounter high levels of job competition to secure desirable positions. Additionally, career choice is crucial for students, as these decisions influence their subsequent developmental stages and significantly impact various aspects of their lives. This study employed a quantitative method with 224 participants, consisting of active college students aged 18-25 years across Indonesia. The findings indicate a significant influence of self-compassion on career decision-making self-efficacy among students, with an effect size of 87%, showing that higher levels of self-compassion correlate with higher levels of career decision-making self-efficacy in students.
