Abstract
A student athlete is a student who also plays the role of an athlete. In this context, student athletes have numerous responsibilities and demands stemming from both roles, which can lead to a tendency to becoming perfectionistic and may cause anxiety. Therefore, it is essential for student athletes to possess self-efficacy to manage their tasks and responsibilities effectively. The aim of this study is to identify the role of perfectionism in self-efficacy among student athletes. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with Spearman's correlation test, involving 213 student athletes from various universities. Data were collected through a questionnaire measuring levels of perfectionism and self-efficacy. The correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between the dimensions of perfectionism (self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism) and self-efficacy, where higher levels of perfectionism were associated with increased self-efficacy. However, it is important to emphasize perfectionism that is adaptive and realistic. Based on these findings, it is recommended that training programs for student athletes provide support and realistic training programs focused on developing self-efficacy, which can help student athletes achieve their goals while managing their realistic perfectionistic tendencies.
