Abstract

Background: Digestive problems, particularly constipation, are common during pregnancy and can persist into postpartum and subsequent pregnancies. Constipation during pregnancy may lead to other digestive issues, including hemorrhoids. While studies on the relationship between constipation and hemorrhoids in the general population exist, research specific to pregnant women remains limited. Objective: To determine the prevalence of constipation and its relationship with hemorrhoids during pregnancy. Methodology: This cross-sectional study collected primary data from 66 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters (G1P0) at Binong Health Center, Tangerang. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test in SPSS. Results: Constipation prevalence was 28.8% (19 of 66). Bivariate analysis using Fisher’s Exact Test showed no significant relationship between constipation and hemorrhoid symptoms (P = 0.069; OR = 8.615; 95% CI = 0.836–88.964). Conclusion: At Binong Health Center, 28.8% of pregnant women experienced constipation, but no significant association was found between constipation and hemorrhoid symptoms during pregnancy.
