Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy and family financial education on the intention to borrow from online loans/P2P Lending and the financial behavior of students in Manado City. This quantitative study employs an associative approach, with data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using PLS SEM (Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling). The findings indicate that financial literacy significantly influences students' intention to borrow from P2P Lending, while family financial education does not have a significant effect on either borrowing intention or financial behavior among students. Furthermore, financial behavior does not mediate the effect of financial literacy or family financial education on borrowing intention. These findings provide deeper insight into the factors driving students to borrow through P2P Lending platforms, particularly highlighting the importance of financial literacy in financial decision-making, while suggesting that family financial education alone may not sufficiently impact students' borrowing intentions or financial behavior.
