Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational factors, including employee compliance behavior (ECB), positive attitude toward job (PAT), empowerment leadership (ELD), teamwork self-efficacy (TSE), and performance-based evaluation (PBE), on organizational commitment (OC) toward operational excellence (OX) in the automotive manufacturing industry in Indonesia. The operational excellence (OX) measured as High Order Construct (HOC) measured by each of three dimensions namely cultural enabler (OXCEB), continuous process improvement (OXCPI), and enterprise alignment (OXEAL). This research was carried out by a quantitative survey, and data was analyzed using PLS-SEM with a disjoint two-stage approach for the dimension test. Respondents in this study were taken using purposive sampling with criteria operators in the manufacturing industry who had worked for more than one year. The research setting was done in the car industry licensed from Japan as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), where 517 eligible samples were obtained. The analysis results show that out of the five independent variables, four have a significant and positive influence, with ECB having the strongest influence. Surprisingly, PBE was found to have a significant but negative influence on OC. Furthermore, OC was found to have a positive impact on OX. Among the three dimensions of OX, OXCPI is the most strongly influenced by OC, while OXEAL is the least influenced. This finding provides a new contribution that OX can and needs to be measured multidimensionally so that the efforts made can be in line with operational targets.
