Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pada tahun 2022, dilaporkan sebanyak 204,7 juta penduduk di Indonesia menggunakan internet. Pemakaian perangkat gawai yang berlebihan akan menyebabkan peningkatan produksi kortisol, sehingga memicu stres. Stres yang dialami pelajar dikenal sebagai stres akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti lebih lanjut hubungan antara penggunaan perangkat gawai dengan stres akademik yang dialami oleh mahasiswa kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. / Backgorund: In 2022, it was reported that over 204,7 million people in Indonesia are internet users. Using a gadget for a long period of time will cause an increase in cortisol production, which leads to stress. The stress experienced by a scholar is often called academic stress. This research is conducted to further study the relationship between gadget use time and academic stress in medical students of Pelita Harapan University. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa FK UPH. / Aim: To determine the relationship between gadget use time and academic stress in medical students of Pelita Harapan University. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain studi analitik komparatif kategorik tidak berpasangan. Kuesioner yang digunakan berupa HELENA Screen Time Sedentary Behaviour untuk mengukur durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai dan kuesioner Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire untuk mengukur tingkat stres. Data diproses dengan program SPSS-25 dan dianalisis menggunakan metode Pearson Chi-Square. / Method: The study uses the unpaired categorical analytic study. Questionaires that will be used are HELENA Screen Time Based Sedentary Questionnaire to assess the amount of time spent on gadgets and the Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire to assess the level of academic stress. Data is processed using the SPSS-25 and analyzed using Pearson Chi-Square method. Hasil: Dari 126 responden, 110 responden memiliki durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai >4 jam, dan 16 responden lain memiliki durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai <4 jam. Sebanyak 94 responden dengan penggunaan perangkat gawai >4 jam mengalami stres akademik, sedangkan 16 responden dengan penggunaan perangkat gawai >4 jam tidak mengalami stres akademik. Dari 16 responden dengan durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai <4 jam, 8 responden mengalami stres akademik, dan 8 responden lainnya tidak mengalami stres akademik. Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara durasi penggunaan perangkat gawai dan stres akademik (p=0.002, OR= 5,875) pada mahasiswa FK UPH. / Result: Out of the 126 respondents, 110 have a screen time >4 hours, while 16 have a screen time <4 hours. Of the 110 respondents with screen time >4 hours, 94 experience academic stress, whereas the remaining 16 do not. Among the 16 respondents with screen time <4 hours, 8 report experiencing academic stress, and the other 8 do not. A positive association is found between screen time and academic stress (p=0.002, OR=5.875) in medical students of Pelita Harapan University.
