Abstract

12 responden dilaporkan mengalami insomnia. Anxiety can be seen from physiological symptoms such as shaking, sweating, increased heart rate and psychological symptoms such as panic, tension, confusion, and inability to concentrate. One of the impacts of anxiety is interference with sleep quality. Anxiety can affect both the quantity and quality of a person's sleep or what is usually called insomnia. Insomnia is defined as dissatisfaction with the quantity or quality of sleep. Insomnia is the most common type of sleep disorder throughout the world. In several previous studies, it was found that anxiety and insomnia are often found in students at the Faculty of Medicine due to factors related to studies, transition factors from teenagers to adults, and other past internal factors. Objective: This research aims to determine the relationship between anxiety and insomnia in FK UPH students Methodology: This research uses an categorical comparative analytical method with a cross sectional design, the sample selection in this research is non-probability sampling with consecutive sampling type. The research instrument used the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS-ID) to assess anxiety levels and the Jakarta Biological Psychiatry Study Group Insomnia Rating Scale (KSPBJ IRS) to assess insomnia. Results: The final sample used in this research consisted of 95 respondents. 74 respondents does not have anxiety. A total of 20 respondents experienced mild anxiety, 1 respondent experienced moderate anxiety. There were no respondents who experienced severe anxiety. (KSPBJ IRS), the majority of respondents, 83 people, does not have insomnia. 12 respondents reported experiencing insomnia. There is a significant relationship between stress and insomnia, and the indirect effect of stress on anxiety through insomnia is also significant, with a p value <0.01, indicating a statistically significant difference between sleep quality and anxiety levels. The anxiety experienced by a person can contribute to an increased risk of insomnia. These findings are in line with the theory that anxiety affects sleep patterns through interference with the relaxation process and increased cognitive activity which causes difficulty sleeping.
