Abstract

In today's competitive fast fashion industry, companies must navigate various challenges to maintain consumer purchase intention. Zara Medan has been facing diminishing consumer purchase intention that was suspected to be due to negative subjective norms and low perceived behavioral control. These factors lead to the unfavorable shifts in consumers’ attitude towards Zara, which in turn contributes to lower consumers’ intention to purchase Zara's offerings. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of Subjective Norms (X1) and Perceived Behavioral Control (X2) on Purchase Intention (Y) with Attitude (Z) as the intervening variable at Zara Medan. This research applies a quantitative approach, and data collection employs non-probability sampling technique known as purposive sampling. The research data was collected from questionnaires distribution through Google Forms with a total of 100 respondents who have met the sampling criteria. This research utilized Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis method with SmartPLS 4 to assess the relationship between variables in the research. The result from the hypothesis test for direct effect showed that both Subjective Norms and Perceived Behavioral Control have positive and significant influence on Attitude at Zara Medan. Attitude and Perceived Behavioral Control have positive and significant influence on Purchase Intention at Zara Medan. However, Subjective Norms have no influence on Purchase Intention at Zara Medan. While the indirect effect test result showed that, both Subjective Norms and Perceived Behavioral Control have positive and significant influence on Purchase Intention through Attitude as mediating.
