Abstract
Polusi udara di Indonesia, terutama dari sektor transportasi, telah menjadi perhatian utama karena dampaknya yang signifikan terhadap kesehatan manusia dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan sistem pembersih udara elektrostatik berbasis getaran, menggunakan material styrofoam sebagai media filtrasi. Sistem ini dirancang untuk diaplikasikan pada knalpot kendaraan bermotor, dengan menggunakan teknologi berbasis mikrokontroler Arduino untuk kontrol sensor dan LabVIEW untuk pemantauan data secara real-time. Proses penelitian melibatkan perancangan perangkat menggunakan perangkat lunak Fusion360, pembuatan prototipe, serta pengujian pada kendaraan Mitsubishi Mirage berusia 12 tahun. Gas buang kendaraan diuji melalui sistem dengan variasi faktor pengisian styrofoam untuk menentukan efisiensi filtrasi optimal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem mampu mengurangi konsentrasi partikel polutan (PM1, PM2,5, PM10) secara signifikan, dengan tingkat penyaringan rata-rata 33% pada pengisian styrofoam sebesar 61%. Efek getaran terbukti berkontribusi besar dalam meningkatkan efisiensi filtrasi, sementara tanpa getaran, penyaringan tidak terjadi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan potensi besar dalam memanfaatkan material sederhana dan teknologi hemat biaya untuk mendukung solusi keberlanjutan di bidang pengurangan emisi kendaraan bermotor. Temuan ini memberikan dasar yang kuat untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut, termasuk penerapan material triboelektrik lain dan evaluasi kinerja di berbagai kondisi lingkungan. / Air pollution in Indonesia, particularly from the transportation sector, has become a major concern due to its significant impact on human health and the environment. This study aims to design and develop a vibration-based electrostatic air purification system utilizing styrofoam as the filtration medium. The system is designed to be applied to vehicle exhaust systems, employing Arduino-based microcontroller technology for sensor control and LabVIEW for real-time data monitoring. The research process involved device design using Fusion360 software, prototype development, and testing on a 12-year-old Mitsubishi Mirage vehicle. Exhaust gases were tested through the system with varying styrofoam filling factors to determine the optimal filtration efficiency. The results indicate that the system can significantly reduce pollutant particle concentrations (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), with an average filtration efficiency of 33% at a styrofoam filling level of 61%. Vibrations were proven to significantly enhance filtration efficiency, whereas without vibrations, there is no filtration happening. This research highlights the potential of using simple materials and cost-effective technology to support sustainable solutions in reducing vehicle emissions. The findings provide a strong foundation for further development, including the application of other triboelectric materials and performance evaluation under various environmental conditions.
