Abstract
This study examines the implementation of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in learning Natural Sciences (IPA) at the Junior High School (SMP) level, with a focus on developing virtual laboratories as an alternative solution to the limitations of conventional laboratories. This study is motivated by the urgency of improving the quality of Indonesian education in the context of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum, especially in science learning which requires adequate laboratory facilities.
The research methodology adopts a user-centered design approach with the implementation of the Interactive Multimedia System Design and Development (IMSDD) model. System testing is carried out through the black box testing method with the Equivalence Partitions technique to evaluate input-output functionality without analyzing the internal mechanisms of the system. Qualitative data was obtained through user feedback to measure the usability and effectiveness aspects of the system.
The results indicate that the implementation of YR-based virtual laboratories has significant potential in improving students' conceptual understanding, especially in learning the human respiratory system. System testing showed optimal validity on all parameters tested, with the success rate reaching the set specifications. User interaction analysis revealed that 40% of respondents stated "Quite Easy" in using the "Pinch and Zoom" feature, indicating that users need time to adapt. The implications of this research provide theoretical and practical contributions in the development of YR-based learning media, while presenting recommendations for the development of more responsive and inclusive learning technologies. Further research is recommended to explore the optimization of interaction gestures and the development of more comprehensive learning content.
