Abstract
ABSTRAK
“SENSITIVITAS EKSTRAK BAWANG MERAH SEBAGAI ANTIBAKTERI TERHADAP BAKTERI METHICILLIN RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS ”
Latar Belakang: Penyakit infeksi masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global, termasuk di Indonesia, yang saat ini menghadapi beban ganda berupa infeksi bakteri yang sulit teratasi. Salah satu patogen utama adalah Staphylococcus aureus, yang dapat menyebabkan berbagai infeksi serius, baik di rumah sakit (HA-MRSA) maupun di masyarakat (CA-MRSA). Selain itu, resistensi terhadap antibiotik, terutama terhadap Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus , menjadi tantangan besar dalam penanganan infeksi ini. Salah satu alternatif pengobatan yang mempunyai bahan alami , seperti bawang merah (Allium cepa), yang memiliki kandungan senyawa antibakteri seperti alliin dan allicin.
Tujuan Penelitian : Untuk mengetahui sensitivitas ekstrak bawang merah sebagai antibakteri terhadap bakteri Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
Metode : Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental. Uji antibakteri menggunakan metode disk diffusion dengan konsentrasi 25%,50%,75% dan 100% dengan menggunakan kontrol positif oxacillin dan kontrol negatif berupa DMSO.
Hasil dan Kesimpulan : Hasil penelitian pada konsentrasi 25%,50%,75% dan 100% didapatkan rata- rata sebesar 5.0 mm , 6.7 mm , 8.2 mm dan 9,5 mm yang menunjukan ekstrak bawang merah dengan konsentrasi 25%,50%,75% dan 100% tidak memiliki aktivitas antibakteri walaupun terdapat perbedaan bermakna.

“SENSITIVITY OF SHALLOT EXTRACT AS AN ANTIMICROBIAL AGAINST METHICILLIN RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS “
Background: Infectious diseases are still a global health problem, including in Indonesia, which is currently facing a double burden of difficult-to-treat bacterial infections. One of the main pathogens is Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause various serious infections, both in hospitals (HA-MRSA) and in the community (CA- MRSA). In addition, resistance to antibiotics, especially toMethicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus , is a major challenge in handling these infections. One alternative treatment that has natural ingredients, such as shallots (Allium cepa), which contain compounds such as alliin and allicin.
Research Objective: To determine the sensitivity of the use of shallot extract as an antimicrobial on Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria
Method: The research method used is experimental. Antibacterial test using disk diffusion method with concentration of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% using positive control of oxacillin and negative control in the form of DMSO.
Results and Conclusions: The results of the study at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% obtained an average of 5.0 mm, 6.7 mm, 8.2 mm and 9.5 mm, which showed that red onion extract with concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% did not have antibacterial activity, although there were significant differences..
