Abstract

Interaksi antarbudaya dapat menimbulkan terjadinya culture shock. Hal ini dialami oleh siswa/i yang berasal dari pedalaman Papua saat mengemban pendidikan di SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia Kabupaten Bogor. Kondisi ini menuntun pihak sekolah untuk dapat menciptakan suasana akademik dan non-akademik yang mendukung proses adaptasi siswa/i. Dalam mengatasi culture shock di lingkungan sekolah tidak lepas dari peran kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi, gaya kepemimpinan, dan program-program apa saja yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam mengatasi culture shock di SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia Kabupaten Bogor. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, yang melibatkan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah menerapkan strategi berbasis gaya kepemimpinan situasional, sinergi antara kegiatan formal dan informal untuk mengatasi culture shock, dan pengembangan program pembelajaran kontekstual sesuai dengan karakteristik budaya siswa/i. Melalui penerapan strategi ini siswa/i di SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia secara bertahap dapat membantu sekolah untuk mengatasi tantangan culture shock, meningkatkan partisipasi dalam kegiatan sekolah, dan memperkuat rasa kebersamaan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan praktik gaya kepemimpinan di bidang pendidikan, khususnya dalam konteks sekolah multikultural. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan untuk dapat membuktikan sejauh mana efektivitas dari penerapan gaya kepemimpinan situasional dalam mengatasi culture shock. / Intercultural interaction can lead to culture shock, which is often experienced by students from the interior of Papua who pursue education at SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia in Bogor Regency. This situation requires the school to create an academic and non-academic environment that supports the students' adaptation process. Overcoming culture shock in the school environment is closely tied to the role of the principal as a leader. Therefore, this study aims to identify the strategies, leadership styles, and programs implemented by the principal to address culture shock at SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia in Bogor Regency. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the principal employs strategies grounded in a situational leadership style, fosters synergy between formal and informal activities to address culture shock, and develops contextual learning programs aligned with students' cultural characteristics. By implementing these strategies, SMA Sekolah Anak Indonesia helps students gradually overcome the challenges of culture shock, increase participation in school activities, and strengthen their sense of community. This research contributes to the development of leadership practices in education, particularly in multicultural school contexts. Future studies are encouraged to evaluate the effectiveness of applying situational leadership styles in managing culture shock.
