Abstract

This study investigates the use of play-based learning using an interactive sandbox on the development of fine and gross motor skills in children aged 18 months to 3 years at Nat's Early Childhood Toddler Class. The study utilized a quasi- experimental pretest-posttest approach with purposive sampling, involving a sample of 10 toddlers. Motor abilities were evaluated with standardized instruments before and after the intervention, which comprised activities such as scooping, pouring, climbing, and balancing. Statistical analysis using paired t-tests revealed substantial enhancements in both fine motor abilities (e.g., hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity) and gross motor skills (e.g., balance, strength), with p-values below 0.001. Observational data corroborated these findings, emphasizing heightened engagement and improved social interaction. Based on these findings, it was concluded that integrating interactive, sensory-rich activities like sandbox play into early childhood education can effectively support the development of essential motor skills in young children. / Penelitian ini menyelidiki pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis bermain menggunakan interaktif sandbox terhadap perkembangan keterampilan motorik halus dan kasar pada anak usia 18 bulan hingga 3 tahun di Nat's Early Childhood Toddler Class. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimen pretest-posttest dengan sampel yang dipilih secara purposif, melibatkan 10 anak balita. Kemampuan motorik dievaluasi menggunakan instrumen standar sebelum dan sesudah intervensi, yang mencakup aktivitas seperti mengayak, menuang, memanjat, dan menjaga keseimbangan. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji t-berpasangan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan motorik halus (misalnya, koordinasi mata-tangan, ketangkasan jari) dan keterampilan motorik kasar (misalnya, keseimbangan, kekuatan), dengan nilai p di bawah 0,001. Data observasional mendukung temuan ini, menyoroti peningkatan keterlibatan dan interaksi sosial. Berdasarkan temuan ini, disimpulkan bahwa integrasi aktivitas interaktif yang kaya sensorik seperti bermain pasir ke dalam pendidikan anak usia dini dapat secara efektif mendukung pengembangan keterampilan motorik esensial pada anak-anak.
