Abstract
Kecenderungan metode ceramah jarang melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Penggunaan metode ceramah cenderung memposisikan guru sebagai pusat pembelajaran (teacher centered). Seharusnya pembelajaran yang berlangsung harus mengacu pada siswa (student centered). Hal ini mempengaruhi suasana pembelajaran yang berdampak motivasi belajar siswa. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa adalah melalui penerapan pembelajaran aktif. Salah satu hal yang harus dipertimbangkan dalam penerapan pembelajaran aktif adalah waktu dan topik pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan dua siklus. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Kalimantan Barat. Jumlah siswa adalah sebanyak 24. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama penulis menjalani praktikum mengajar, yaitu mulai 24 Agustus sampai 23 November 2009. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran aktif dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.

Lectures method tends not to involve students actively. Focus of lectures method is teacher centered. Learning process should focus on students (student centered). It will effect the learning situation that impacted the motivation of students. One way to increase motivation of students is through the application of active learning. One thing that should be considered when learning active applied is time and learning topic. This research uses classroom action research with two cycles. Subject of this research is VII grade students at one of Christian School in West Kalimantan. The number of student is 24. Research was done during the teaching practice of the writer began August 24 until November 24 2009. The results show that active learning can increase the motivation of students.
