Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran guru sebagai motivator dalam proses belajar-mengajar serta pengaruhnya terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa. Metode penelitian menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diusulkan oleh Arikunto (2008) yang mencakup kegiatan (1) perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan, (3) pengamatan, dan (4) refleksi. Penulis mengolah data yang diperoleh secara deskriptif naratif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di sebuah sekolah SMP swasta Kabupaten Tulang Bawang, Lampung. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A yang berjumlah 19 orang siswa. Usaha meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dilakukan guru dengan cara meningkatkan perannya sebagai motivator. Peran guru sebagai motivator dilakukan dengan memberikan rangsangan dari luar seperti pemberian pujian dan menerapkan hukuman. Hasil penelitian tindakan yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa usaha guru sebagai motivator tidak mempengaruhi peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa.

The aim of this writing is to know the role of teacher as motivator in learning process and observe the effect on the increase of students’ learning motivation. The research method used in Class Action Research formulated by Arikunto (2008). It includes activities of (1) planning, (2) implementation (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The data obtained is analyzed descriptively and narratively. The research was done in a private junior high school in Kabupaten Tulang Bawang, Lampung. The subject of research was grade VIIIA students (19 students). Teacher’s effort to increase students’ learning motivation was done by focusing on his motivator role. This was done by providing external stimulation, i.e. positive reinforcement and implementation of punishments. The result showed that teacher’s effort to be a motivator did not yet increase students’ learning motivation.
