Abstract

Metode pembelajaran adalah salah satu elemen penting dalam proses belajar mengajar yang harus diperhatikan. Namun, seringkali metode pembelajaran kurang diperhatikan. Padahal pemilihan metode yang tepat dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa. Metode diskusi dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu metode yang efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode diskusi dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas VIII. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan tiga siklus. Analisa data menggunakan analisa kualitatif yaitu deskritif dan/atau naratif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII pada salah satu SMP Kristen di Lampung Selatan yang berjumlah 27 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa jurnal refleksi, feedback mentor, feedback tim guru dan kepala sekolah, dan nilai siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan tujuan pembelajaran dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam mempelajar biologi. Hal ini terlihat dari adanya ketekunan siswa dalam menghadapi tugas, tidak mudah putus asa dalam menghadapi kesulitan, adanya minat siswa terhadap bermacam-macam masalah, adanya ketertarikan peserta dalam proses belajar yang dinyatakan melalui partisipasi aktif dalam bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan serta adanya keinginan untuk bekerja sama dengan teman kelompok dalam belajar. / Learning method is one important element in teaching and learning that must be considered. However, this method often overlooked. Whereas the selection of appropriate methods can increase student motivation. Discussion method can be used as one effective method in increasing motivation to learn biology. The aim of this research is to know the influence of applying objectives approach to improve grade VIII students’ motivation in learning biology. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) by implementing three consecutivecycles. The data was analized qualitatively, i.e. descriptively and narratively. The object is 27 grade VIII students of a junior high school in Lampung. The instruments were reflective daily journals, feedback from mentor, feedback from other teachers and the principal, and the students’ score report. This research shows that approaching the objectives can improve student’s motivation in learning biology. This was shown by student persistence in the face of the task, not easily discouraged in the face of adversity, the interests of the students on a variety of problems, there is interest in participating in the learning process is expressed through active participation in asking and answering questions as well as the desire to cooperate with friends in study groups.
