Abstract
Pelajaran Character Building (Pembangunan Karakter) bagi pendidikan menengah merupakan salah satu aspek penting bagi pengarahan perkembangan siswa di usia remaja. Maka dari itu penting bagi para siswa untuk benar-benar memahami pelajaran ini. Untuk itu perlu ditumbuhkan suatu motivasi dalam diri masing-masing siswa untuk sungguh-sungguh memperhatikan, memahami dan menguasai pelajaran ini. Maka dari itu, guru perlu menerapkan reinforcement (penguatan) untuk mengarahkan tingkah laku siswa dan mengarahkannya pada terciptanya pembelajaran yang kondusif, aktif, kritis, dan kompetitif sebagai salah upaya meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam pelajaran ini. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan reinforcement ditinjau dari sudut pandang Kristiani serta mengetahui pengaruh diterapkannya reinforcement dalam meningkatkan motivasi siswa di kelas XI IPS, SMA X. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPS, SMA X, Banjar Agung, Lampung, tahun pelajaran 2009/2010. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua siklus. Data-data diperoleh dari observasi, umpan balik observer dan refleksi selama pelaksanaan siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari sudut pandang Kristen penguatan merupakan hal yang positif dan sangat diperlukan bagi perkembangan kepribadian siswa dan penerapan reinforcement mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pelajaran CB. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya perubahan perilaku dan antusiasme siswa di dalam kelas. Saran yang kemukakan peneliti adalah, guru dapat menerapkan berbagai variasi reinforcement untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar Character Building (CB).Penelitian ini juga dapat digunakan untuk penelitian selanjutnya.

The Character Building lesson at highschool is one of the important aspect for leading students in there teenager, so that it is very important for them to comperehen this lesson. For reaching this aim the teacher has to develop motivation among his/ her students so that they have to pay attention and comperehen this lesson well. Beside that the teacher should apply reinforcement for leading students’ behaviour in order to create the condusive, active,critical and competitive learning activities.This is for improving students’ motivation in this lesson. The aim of this research is to know how the reinforcement is applied based on the Christian’s View and to know the influence of reinforcement application to improve students’ motivation in XI grade of social programme at X highschool in the term of 2009/2010. This research used the classroom action research design. The subject of this research is the students of XI grade of social programme. This research used two cycles. The researcher got the data from the result of observation, feed back from the observer and from the journal reflection during the application of the cycles. The result of this research shows that based on Christian’s view is a positive thing and it is needed for students for their good character and the application of reinforcement is able to develop the students’ motivation in Character Building lesson. This condition is shown from the positive changing behaviour and the enthusiasm of students in joining this lesson. There is a suggestion from the researcher that it will be better for the teacher to apply many variation from reinforcement types that can be used to improve students’ motivation in Character Building Lesson. Hopefully this research can useful for other researches.
