Abstract

Most teachers believe that classroom discipline through setting rules is difficult to achieve. Results always seem to vary. Keeping a tighter boundary could maintain a good discipline, but, in dealing with a problem: prevention (preventive discipline) would be better than a cure (corrective discipline). The two biggest factors of undisciplined behavior are character and opportunity. Through a descriptive qualitative case study in the school, I have tried to present a lesson using a game to reduce the opportunity for students to be undisciplined. A game is involving all the member of the class and it keeps everyone active together. This study has brought a good result. Discipline in class increased and it also impacted the student‟s achievement in class. Students enjoyed the learning and the relationship between students and teacher was better. Therefore, a game could be adopted as a good class discipline strategy that can be used by a teacher. / Sebagian besar guru mempercayai bahwa sebuah disiplin yang baik harus melalui tahap yang keras. Peraturan-peraturan, hukuman dan konsekuensi. memperketat batasan-batasan akan dapat memelihara sebuah disiplin yang baik. Namun, tentunya mencegah (disiplin pencegahan) akan lebih baik daripada mengobati (disipin koreksi). Dua buah faktor terbesar dalam sebuah tindakan tidak disiplin adalah karakter dan kesempatan. Melalui studi kasus secara deskriptif kualitatif di Sebuah SMP swasta di Lampung, saya mencoba membuat sebuah pembelajaran melalui permainan untuk memangkas kesempatan seorang siswa menjadi tidak disiplin. Sebuah permainan akan melibatkan seluruh anggota kelas dan menjaga semuanya tetap bersama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tingkat disiplin di dalam kelas telah meningkat dan siswa juga menikmati proses pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Hubungan antara guru dengan murid pun menjadi lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, permainan dapat dimasukan kedalam "strategi disiplin kelas yang baik" yang dapat digunakan oleh seorang guru.
