Abstract
Assessment is a frequently heard word in the educational world. Assessment can be seen from cognitive, affective and behavior aspects. In this Skripsi writing, the writer is concerned with both the cognitive and affective aspects to monitor students’ progress in Mathematics. Assessment enables the writer to measure how far the students had understanding of concepts in Mathematics from time to time. This Skripsi entitled, “THE EFFECT OF USING VARIOUS ASSESSMENTS TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ LEARNING PROGRESS IN A GRADE 7 AT A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IN TANGERANG” will describe how the writer brought the students to be aware that Mathematics can be an enjoyable subject through the design of assessments. Mathematics in this study was not a main subject, but an additional subject which used Singapore’s curriculum. In this writing, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) to observe a class to see the problem and find strategies to help assessment by the cycles of planning, action, observation and reflection. The writer used observation instruments such as self reflection and mentor feedback to learn to arrange better assessment. The CAR was carried out in a Christian School in Tangerang, in a 7.1 class. The aim of this CAR was to observe and make an effective assessment and to give the students and the writer some successful outcomes. The writer reached a conclusion that the students and the writer actually had a heart and desire to learn and had achieved success.

Di dalam dunia pendidikan, kata “penilaian” merupakan sebuah kata yang tidak asing lagi didengar. Penilaian mencakup aspek kognitif, afektif dan tingkah laku. Pada penulisan skripsi ini, penulis lebih menekankan penilaian pada aspek kognitif untuk melihat perkembangan belajar siswa dalam pelajaran Matematika. Penilaian memampukan penulis untuk memantau seberapa jauh pemahaman konsep Matematika yang didapat selama pembelajaran dari waktu ke waktu. Skripsi yang berjudul, akan menjelaskan bagaimana penulis membawa para siswanya untuk menyadari betapa pentingnya menghargai Matematika sebagai pelajaran yang menyenangkan. Terlebih lagi, Matematika ini bukanlah pelajaran inti namun pelajaran tambahan yang mengacu terhadap kurikulum Singapura. Penulisan skripsi ini menggunakan PTK, yakni sebuah penelitian yang dilakukan pada sebuah kelas untuk melihat masalah yang terjadi untuk mencari strategi – strategi penyelesaian melalui beberapa siklus yang dilakukan. PTK menggunakan beberapa instrumen penelitian sebagai bahan refleksi bagi penulis untuk terus belajar menyusun sebuah penilaian yang lebih baik. PTK dilakukan di sebuah sekolah Kristen, yang berlokasi di Tangerang, berfokus pada kelas 7.2. Bertujuan untuk meneliti keefektifan penilaian sebagai suatu proses dalam mengukur pencapaian siswa. Sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa para siswa sesungguhnya memilki hati yang ingin belajar dan maju.
