Abstract
Peraturan kelas dibuat dengan harapan siswa mengetahui batasan-batasan dalam bertingkah laku selama mereka berada di dalam kelas. Namun, sangat disayangkan peraturan tersebut tidak diperhatikan oleh siswa dan hanya dijadikan sebagai pajangan dinding. Dengan melihat kontradiksi antara harapan guru dan sikap siswa, maka sangat diperlukan suatu pendekatan untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan punishment dapat meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa pada pembelajaran matematika dan menjelaskan cara serta kendala yang dihadapi dalam menerapkan punishment untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa pada pembelajaran matematika. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Masalah yang diangkat dalam PTK adalah masalah-masalah yang terjadi selama proses pembelajaran dan dianggap dapat mempengaruhi proses belajar mengajar. Subjek penelitian yang dilakukan adalah siswa kelas VIIA SMP swasta di Lampung Selatan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam PTK ini adalah refleksi pribadi, lesson plan, dan feedback mentor. Dari penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan, disimpulkan bahwa penerapan punishment dapat meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa kelas VII pada pembelajaran matematika. Kendala yang dihadapi dalam menerapkan punishment untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa pada pembelajaran matematika yaitu toleransi yang terlalu sering diberikan kepada siswa yang melanggar peraturan.

Classroom rules were made with a hope that the students will know the boundaries in behaving when they are in the class. However, it is sad that those rules are not being regarded properly by the students, and are only made as display on the wall. Looking at the contradiction between the teacher’s expectation and students’ behavior, an approach to increase student’s discipline is severely needed. This research aims to know whether the application of punishment can increase the students discipline in studying mathematics and to explain the way and the obstacles faced in applying punishment to increase students discipline in studying mathematics. The method that is used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). The problems that are discussed in CAR are the problems occurred along the learning process which is assumed to disturb the teaching and learning process itself. The subject of the research is the students of Grade VIIA in a private Junior High School in Southern Lampung. The instruments used in this CAR are personal reflection, lesson plans, and mentor’s feedbacks. From the CAR that was done, it is concluded that the application of punishment can increase the Grade VII students discipline in studying mathematics. The obstacle faced in applying punishment to increase the students discipline in studying mathematics is the tolerance which was given too often to the students who broke the rules.
