Abstract

Penelitian ini diangkat berdasarkan masalah kurangnya motivasi siswa dalam belajar Matematika dari pengalaman selama praktikum mengajar di salah satu SMP di kota Semarang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui mengapa Matematika menjadi pelajaran yang membosankan bagi siswa, bagaimana pengaruh metode pembelajaran berkelompok pada motivasi siswa serta kendala dalam penerapan metode mengajar ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan tiga siklus, yang tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan observasi guru mentor, refleksi siswa, refleksi penulis, dokumentasi dan hasil wawancara dengan beberapa siswa pada tiap kelas yang penulis ajar yaitu VIII A, VIII B, dan VIII E. Kesimpulan dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika membosankan karena kurangnya variasi mengajar yang diterapkan guru serta tidak dilibatkannya siswa dalam pembelajaran. Dengan pendekatan metode permainan berkelompok dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari beberapa indikator, diantaranya: meningkatnya semangat siswa dalam belajar, kerja sama yang baik dalam belajar serta aktifnya siswa dalam berpartisipasi pada proses pembelajaran. / This research is based on the problem of the lack of motivation in learning mathematics, raised from experience during the teaching practicum in one Junior High School in the city of Semarang. The purpose of this research is to find out why mathematics becomes a boring lessons for students, the effect of grouping games method on student motivation and the constraints in the implementation of this teaching method. This research used the Classroom Action Research model of three cycles, with each cycle consists of four stages which one planning, action, observation and reflection. The data was collected using mentor teacher observations, student’s reflections, writer’s reflections, documentation and interviews with several students in each class taught by the writer, which are VIII A, VIII B and VIII E. The conclusion of the study shows that mathematics is boring because of the lack of variation applied by teachers and the students are not included in learning process. The approach using grouping games method can increase the students' learning motivation. This is seen from several indicators, including: the increased student enthusiasm in learning, good cooperation in learning and active participation of students in the learning process.
