Abstract
In mathematics education there is a practice of grouping students together according to their ability which is called tracking. Over the years it has received both positive and negative reviews. The practice is now being done in Indonesia, especially in some Christian schools. It is still unclear, however, whether the tracking in mathematics is compatible with Christian’s values and worldview, and whether it has a place in transformational education. This study aims to find out the existence of the compatibility between tracking in mathematics with Christian’s values and worldview, which in turn will determine its place in transformational education. The methodology of study used was case study, explained using the terminology of Classroom Action Research (CAR) of one cycle. The study used lesson plans, mentor feedbacks, and informal discussions with teachers, and was described in narrative form which is qualitative in nature. The result of this study is that tracking mathematics is compatible with Christian’s values and worldview, given that it is done with the right motives, and it has a place in transformational education when the teachers and administrators of the school strive to do it with a transformed attitude.

Di dalam pendidikan matematika terdapat suatu praktik yang disebut tracking, di mana siswa dikelompokkan berdasarkan kemampuan mereka. Selama beberapa tahun ini, tracking telah mendapat penilaian baik positif maupun negatif. Praktik ini sekarang diterapkan di Indonesia, terlebih khusus pada beberapa sekolah Kristen. Akan tetapi, masih belum jelas apakah tracking dalam pelajaran matematika sepadan dengan nilai-nilai dan sudut pandang Kristen dan apakah tracking dalam pelajaran matematika memiliki tempat dalam pendidikan transformasional. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya kesepadanan antara tracking dalam pelajaran matematika dengan nilai-nilai dan sudut pandang Kristen yang nantinya akan menentukan tempatnya dalam pendidikan transformasional. Metodologi studi yang digunakan adalah studi kasus yang dijelaskan dengan menggunakan terminologi Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dalam satu siklus. Studi ini menggunakan lesson plan, umpan balik mentor, dan diskusi informal dengan guru-guru, dan diuraikan dalam bentuk naratif yang bersifat kualitatif. Hasil dari studi ini adalah tracking dalam pelajaran matematika sepadan dengan nilai-nilai dan sudut pandang Kristen saat dilaksanakan dengan motivasi yang benar, dan tracking dalam pelajaran matematika memiliki tempat dalam pendidikan transformasional saat guru-guru dan pemimpin sekolah berjuang untuk melaksanakannya dengan hati yang sudah ditransformasi.
