Abstract
Pelajaran sains, khususnya Fisika dan Matematika bagi sebagian besar siswa merupakan “momok”, cenderung ditakuti dan bukan pelajaran yang menarik sehingga siswa tidak mempunyai motivasi untuk mempelajarinya. Untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa tersebut, maka diperlukan metode mengajarkan Fisika yang tepat dan baik. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan adalah metode demonstrasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di salah satu SMP “X” di Kalimantan Barat pada kelas VIII dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 17 orang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan lembar observasi pembelajaran, jurnal refleksi, umpan balik mentor, umpan balik siswa, dan wawancara. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian diolah. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan memberikan penjelasan secara deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian dapat ditemukan bahwa penggunaan metode demonstrasi pada pembelajaran Fisika SMP kelas VIII dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Siswa juga terdorong untuk bertanggung jawab melakukan apa yang menjadi kehendak Allah, khususnya siswa dapat bertanggung jawab dalam mengerjakan tugas yang diberikan.

Science subjects, especially Physics and Mathematics, are often considered as “scary” and uninteresting subjects that students do not have motivation to learn about. A proper and good teaching method is needed in order to increase the student’s motivation in learning Physics. One of the methods that can be used is demonstration method. A research about this method was conducted at Junior High School “X” grade 7 in West Kalimantan with 17 students as the objects. The research methodology used is Class Action Research (CAR). The process of data gathering was done by using several instruments, such as teaching-learning observation sheet, reflection journal, mentor’s feedback, students’ feedback, and interview. This data was then analyzed descriptively. The result of this research shows that the use of demonstration method in grade 7 Physics lesson can increase students’ motivation to learn. The students were also encouraged to be responsible to do what God’s will is, specifically in doing the assignments given to them.
