Abstract

Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM) akan terlaksana dengan baik jika memiliki kerja sama dan interaksi edukatif yang baik antara guru dan siswa. Kedua hal tersebut dapat terbentuk jika guru dan siswa mampu menjalankan tanggung jawab masing-masing sebagai pengajar dan pelajar. Namun seringkali terjadi siswa tidak memiliki motivasi dalam mengikuti pelajaran di kelas, terutama pada pelajaran yang tidak disukai dan dianggap susah seperti matematika. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam mengikuti pelajaran matematika ialah dengan memberikan reward kepada siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu SMA swasta di propinsi Lampung, tepatnya pada kelas XI IPS yang berjumlah 24 orang siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), dengan alat pengumpul data berupa jurnal refleksi, tanggapan mentor, dan tanggapan siswa. Data yang diperoleh kemudian diolah dengan cara memberikan penjelasan secara naratif deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa metode pemberian reward kepada siswa mampu meningkatkan motivasi mereka dalam mengikuti pelajaran matematika, sehingga pada akhirnya dapat tercipta proses KBM yang baik dan lancar. / Teaching and learning activities will be done well if it has cooperation and good educational interaction between teacher and students. Both things can be formed if teacher and students can carry out their responsibilities as educator and learners. But often students do not have motivation to follow the lesson in the classroom, especially on subject that is not desireable and is considered difficult as mathematic. One way that can be done to improve student’s motivation in math classes is to give them rewards during the learning process. This research was conducted at one private senior high school in the province of Lampung, precisely at the XI social science class totaling 24 students. This research was conducted in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR), with data collection tools of reflection journals, mentor feedback, and student responses. Data obtained was processed by providing descriptive narrative explanation. From the result of research showed that the method of giving rewards to students can increase their motivation in math class, so that could create a better process of teaching and learning activities.
