Abstract

School tracking is a system which is used in almost every school, especially in Indonesia. This system may make the teacher’s work easier, while in the other hand underachiever students experience discouragement and different treatment. The teacher’s treatment is an important part in dealing with the students experience. Data collection was conducted by using lesson plans and personal reflection journal which was made during five months teaching practice, July 6 – November 28, 2009. The objects are two classes from the same level of a private school in Central Jakarta, 31 students in 10-1 and 38 students in 10-2. The result of this study show that the teacher has an important role in helping underachievers to be more encouraged in class by applying the concept of equity and set the same expectation for classes with different achievement level. / Pemisahan kelas berdasarkan hasil belajar adalah suatu sistem sekolah yang dijalankan di hampir setiap sekolah, khususnya di Indonesia. Sistem ini dikatakan dapat mempermudah pekerjaan guru, sedangkan di pihak lain para murid dengan pencapaian akademik rendah akan mengalami rasa kurang dukungan dan perlakuan yang berbeda. Perlakuan guru adalah satu hal yang penting dalam menghadapi pengalaman siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan rencana pembelajaran dan refleksi jurnal pribadi yang dibuat selama praktikum mengajar lima bulan, 6 Juli – 28 November 2009 di sebuah sekolah swasta di Jakarta Pusat. Obyek penelitian adalah dua kelas dari level yang sama, tiga puluh satu siswa di kelas 10-1 dan tiga puluh delapan siswa di kelas 10-2. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru berperan penting dalam membantu siswa dengan pencapaian di bawah rata-rata untuk menjadi lebih terdorong untuk belajar di kelas dengan mengaplikasikan konsep kesetaraan dan memberikan standar yang sama untuk semua kelas.
