Copyright infringement has brought a negative impact to the creator. Copyright infringement brings both moral and economic harm. By utilizing the advancement of social media information technology copyright infringement still occurs. The purpose of this research was to examine the problem, first regarding legal protection for films on the distribution of film footage in theaters for commercial or non-commercial acts. Secondly, the protection of the copyright holder of the Film against the perpetrators of copyright infringement in Indonesia. This research uses normative methods with a legal approach. Source of primary, secondary, tertiary legal material. Data collection techniques using descriptive analysis methods. The results showed that movie recording in cinemas disseminated through social media constitutes copyright infringement, pursuant to article 12 of cinematography's copyright ACT is copyright protected. Protection provided to the creator in the event of a breach may be made by filing civil lawsuit and criminal complaints and the closure report of social media content related to copyright infringement on the electronic system. Protection and enforcement are required for the creator's rights to be protected. Law enforcement needs to be enforced in order to protect the creators from continuing.
