Abstract

Media berbasis visual merupakan salah satu faktor pendukung motivasi belajar siswa. Pengaruh penggunaan media berbasis visual terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dapat diketahui dengan cara mengamati respons, fokus yang menjadi perhatian siswa, semangat, serta usaha yang dilakukan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Peneliti menggunakan media berbasis visual, yaitu tabel, gambar dan model tiruan jam. Adapun ketiga media tersebut tergolong dalam media berbasis visual. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui penggunaan media berbasis visual untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan dalam pengajaran di tingkat Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu Sekolah Dasar Kristen yang terletak di Semarang. Subjek dalam penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas 5 SD. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan ialah observasi peneliti, observasi guru mentor (umpan balik), observasi teacher educator, serta refleksi peneliti. Analisis hasil penelitian yang digunakan ialah analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media berbasis visual dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Motivasi yang dimiliki siswa adalah motivasi ekstrinsik, karena siswa diberi rangsangan dari luar yakni penggunaan media visual tersebut. / Visual media is a supporting factor of students’ learning motivation. The influence of visual media towards students’ learning motivation can be identified by observing student’s responsses, focus of their attention, enthusiasm, as well as their effort in learning. This research aims to determine the use of visual media to enhance students’ learning motivation. Hopefully, this research might be useful for teaching at the elementary level. The research was conducted in a Christian elementary school which is located in Semarang. The subject of the research are grade 5 students. Research instrument that was used consisted of the researcher’s observation, teacher mentor’s observation (feedback), teacher educator’s observation and the researcher’s reflection. The research shows that the use of visual media can enhance students’ motivation to learn. Their motivation is an extrinsic one, since they were given outward stimulus, that is, the use of visual media.
