Abstract
Environmental challenges have become a critical concern globally, compelling
multinational corporations (MNCs) to integrate sustainability into their business
strategies. This study investigates Honda’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
initiatives in Indonesia from 2014 to 2024, focusing on their environmental impact
and underlying motivations. Rooted in the framework of economic liberalism, this
study examines how free market principles and Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) converge to address societal and environmental challenges. The research
employs a qualitative approach, relying on secondary data from sustainability
reports, government publications, and scholarly articles. Thematic analysis is used
to identify patterns in Honda’s CSR practices and their alignment with Indonesia’s
environmental goals. In this discussion reveals Honda's multifaceted CSR strategy,
including initiatives like promoting eco-friendly transportation, implementing
educational programs, and establishing green factories. These efforts not only
address environmental sustainability but also enhance Honda's brand reputation,
build consumer trust, and ensure long-term market competitiveness. The analysis
shows that Honda’s CSR approach is both active and proactive, reflecting a
commitment to societal well-being beyond compliance with regulatory
requirements. The findings demonstrate that Honda’s CSR initiatives yield dual
benefits—advancing Indonesia’s sustainability goals while securing corporate
interests such as market growth and stakeholder loyalty. Recommendations
emphasise the importance of transparent reporting and deeper stakeholder
engagement to amplify CSR’s impact. This thesis underscores the strategic value
of CSR as a tool for achieving corporate and societal objectives, providing a model
for other MNCs in their pursuit of sustainable development. / Tantangan lingkungan telah menjadi perhatian penting secara global, mendorong
perusahaan multinasional (MNC) untuk mengintegrasikan keberlanjutan ke dalam
strategi bisnis mereka. Studi ini menyelidiki inisiatif Tanggung Jawab Sosial
Perusahaan (CSR) Honda di Indonesia dari tahun 2014 hingga 2024, dengan fokus
pada dampak lingkungan dan motivasi yang mendasarinya. Berakar pada kerangka
liberalisme ekonomi, penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana prinsip-prinsip pasar bebas
dan Tanggung Jawab Sosial Perusahaan (CSR) bertemu untuk mengatasi tantangan
sosial dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan
mengandalkan data sekunder dari laporan keberlanjutan, publikasi pemerintah, dan
artikel ilmiah. Analisis tematik digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi pola-pola dalam
praktik CSR Honda dan keselarasannya dengan tujuan lingkungan hidup di
Indonesia. Dalam diskusi ini terungkap strategi CSR Honda yang memiliki banyak
aspek, termasuk inisiatif seperti mempromosikan transportasi ramah lingkungan,
melaksanakan program pendidikan, dan mendirikan pabrik ramah lingkungan.
Upaya-upaya ini tidak hanya menangani kelestarian lingkungan tetapi juga
meningkatkan reputasi merek Honda, membangun kepercayaan konsumen, dan
memastikan daya saing pasar jangka panjang. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa
pendekatan CSR Honda bersifat aktif dan proaktif, yang mencerminkan komitmen
terhadap kesejahteraan masyarakat yang lebih dari sekadar memenuhi persyaratan
peraturan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa inisiatif CSR Honda memberikan
manfaat ganda-memajukan tujuan keberlanjutan Indonesia sekaligus
mengamankan kepentingan perusahaan seperti pertumbuhan pasar dan loyalitas
pemangku kepentingan. Rekomendasi yang diberikan menekankan pentingnya
pelaporan yang transparan dan keterlibatan pemangku kepentingan yang lebih
mendalam untuk memperkuat dampak CSR. Tesis ini menggarisbawahi nilai
strategis CSR sebagai alat untuk mencapai tujuan perusahaan dan masyarakat, serta
memberikan model bagi perusahaan multinasional lainnya dalam mengejar
pembangunan berkelanjutan.
