This research aims to examine the social responsibility assumed by licensees in the construction of Christian houses of worship in Indonesia. As part of the implementation of the right to freedom of religion guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the construction of Christian houses of worship not only requires administrative and formal legal permits but also considers the social impact on the surrounding community, which consists of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. The social responsibility of the licensee includes aspects of inter-religious relations, social integration, and sustainable development that is environmentally friendly and sensitive to the needs of local communities. This research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with the licensee, religious leaders, and the community around the house of worship being built. In addition, this study also includes a review of licensing documents and local government policies related to the construction of houses of worship in Indonesia. The results showed that the license recipients of Christian houses of worship in Indonesia have social responsibilities that include several important dimensions, namely first, maintaining inter-religious harmony and tolerance through open dialog and communication with the surrounding community. Second, ensuring that the construction of houses of worship does not interfere with the comfort or social activities of the surrounding community, including in terms of traffic and noise regulation. Third, licensees are also expected to contribute to community social programs, such as education and local economic empowerment. This responsibility is part of the effort to create a harmonious environment, where religion can be a means of character building and social solidarity, not a trigger for conflict. This research provides recommendations for the local government to be more proactive in facilitating inter-religious dialogue and supporting licensees in fulfilling their social responsibilities, in order to create peaceful and respectful diversity in Indonesia.
