Abstract
Penelitian ini menganalisis dampak Strategi Inovasi, Kapasitas Serap, dan Inovasi Terbuka terhadap Kinerja UMKM kuliner di Kota Balikpapan, mengingat peran penting UMKM dalam ekonomi nasional dan tantangan seperti persaingan ketat, perubahan preferensi konsumen, serta tekanan biaya operasional. UMKM pada penelitian ini difokuskan pada industri kuliner yang berlokasi di Kota Balikpapan dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 180. Sampel pada penelitian ini diambil secara acak menggunakan Non-probability Sampling. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), penelitian ini menguji hubungan variabel Strategi Inovasi, Kapasitas Serap, dan Inovasi Terbuka (Keluar dan Masuk) dengan Kinerja UMKM menggunakan software SmartPLS 4. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Strategi Inovasi memperkuat Kapasitas Serap UMKM, yang mendukung keberhasilan dalam Inovasi Terbuka. Kapasitas Serap, atau kemampuan perusahaan untuk mengenali dan memanfaatkan pengetahuan eksternal, memainkan peran penting dalam meningkatkan produktivitas, efisiensi, dan daya saing UMKM. Implikasi praktis penelitian ini menyarankan agar UMKM kuliner proaktif mengadopsi Strategi Inovasi dan memperkuat Kapasitas Serap guna memanfaatkan peluang eksternal, memperluas kolaborasi, serta menyesuaikan produk dan layanan dengan kebutuhan pasar, yang pada akhirnya meningkatkan Kinerja dan daya adaptasi bisnis dalam lingkungan pasar yang dinamis. / This study analyzes the impact of innovation strategy, absorptive capacity, and open innovation on the performance of culinary SMEs in Balikpapan Regency, considering the vital role of SMEs in the national economy and challenges such as intense competition, shifting consumer preferences, and operational cost pressures. The SMEs in this study focus on the culinary industry located in Balikpapan Regency, with a sample size of 180 respondents. The sample was selected using Non-probability Sampling, allowing random selection. Through a quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), this study examines the relationships between innovation strategy, absorptive capacity, and open innovation (inbound and outbound) with SME performance using the SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that innovation strategy strengthens the absorptive capacity of SMEs, supporting success in open innovation. Absorptive capacity, or the ability of a company to recognize and leverage external knowledge, plays a critical role in enhancing productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness of SMEs. The practical implications of this research suggest that culinary SMEs should proactively adopt innovative strategies and strengthen absorptive capacity to leverage external opportunities, expand collaborations, and adapt products and services to market needs, ultimately improving business performance and adaptability in a dynamic market environment.
