Abstract

This final project focuses on the Interior Design of Ceramic experience center, located in Desa Ganara, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), with an emphasis on developing ceramic art spaces through narrative and multi-sensory design approaches. The design aims to meet spatial needs that support ceramic art activities functionally, while also enriching the visitor experience through visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory, and gustatory elements. Wabi Studio, the main client of this project, envisions a space that not only facilitates workshops and exhibitions but also serves as a community hub open to the public from various backgrounds.
The design methodology applies a narrative approach to create a spatial journey that tells the story of ceramic art, and a multi-sensory approach to enhance user engagement through immersive sensory interactions. Data were gathered through direct observation, interviews with clients and ceramic art experts, and questionnaires distributed to the general public. These methods were used to assess how well the design meets user needs and conveys cultural values through spatial experiences.
The design of Ceramic experience center aims to create a space that is not only functional for workshops and galleries, but also educational and interactive—encouraging public participation and fostering the growth of a ceramic art community in Indonesia. Through a narrative layout and immersive sensory experiences, visitors are invited to understand the meaning and value of the ceramic-making process, while deepening appreciation for local visual arts.
