Abstract
Indonesia’s worsening air quality, largely attributed to emissions from fossil fuel- powered vehicles, has prompted a growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable alternative. This study investigates the influence of green marketing and greenwashing on consumer trust and purchase behavior in the electric vehicle sector, with environmental knowledge as a moderating variable. Data were collected through a survey of consumers who purchased EVs within the past year. The analysis method used in this study is using SmartPLS Version 4.0. The results of the study indicate that Green Marketing has a positive influence on consumer trust in electric vehicle consumers, Green Washing has a negative influence on Consumer Trust in electric vehicle consumers, Consumer Trust has a positive influence on Purchase Behavior in electric vehicle consumers, Green Marketing does not have a positive effect on Consumer Trust with Environmental Knowledge as a moderator variable in electric vehicle consumers, Consumer Trust does not have a positive effect on Purchase Behavior with Environmental Knowledge as a moderator variable in electric vehicle consumers. This study provides both theoretical insights and practical implications for businesses and policymakers to promote authentic and effective green marketing strategies, enhance consumer trust, and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
