Abstract

Gaya belajar sebagai pendekatan individu dalam menyerap dan mengolah informasi, yang berperan penting dalam mengembangkan kemampuan critical thinking. Kemampuan critical thinking perlu diasah oleh mahasiswa keperawatan karena sangat dibutuhkan dalam proses pengambilan keputusan dan pemberian asuhan keperawatan yang efektif dan tepat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan gaya belajar dengan critical thinking pada mahasiswa keperawatan tahun akademik kedua. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif korelasi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa keperawatan tahun akademik kedua di satu universitas swasta di Indonesia barat sebanyak 182 mahasiswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian menggunakan kuesioner Visual, Auditori, Read/Write, Kinestetik (VARK) untuk menilai gaya belajar dan kuesioner Critical Thinking Toolkit (CriTT) untuk mengukur critical thinking pada setiap mahasiswa. Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 62 (33.5%) mahasiswa memiliki gaya belajar AK (Auditori/Kinestetik) dan sebanyak 92 (50.5%) mahasiswa memiliki critical thinking yang rendah. Hasil chi-square ditemukan nilai p=0,020 (p<0.05) sehingga menunjukkan ada hubungan yang signifikan gaya belajar dengan critical thinking pada mahasiswa keperawatan tahun akademik kedua. Peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan melakukan penelitian gaya belajar dengan critical thiking yang melibatkan faktor lain seperti motivasi, lingkungan belajar, dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan. Peneliti selanjutnya disarankan menggunakan desain penelitian longitudinal atau desain penelitian lainnya. / Learning style is an individual approach to absorbing and processing information, which plays an important role in developing critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills need to be honed by nursing students because they are needed in the process of making decisions and providing effective and appropriate nursing care. This study aimed to determine the relationship between learning styles and critical thinking in the second academic year nursing students. This study used a quantitative correlation research design. The sample in this study were second-year nursing students at one private university in West Indonesia totaling 182 students, selected using purposive sampling technique. Instruments in the study used Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic (VARK) questionnaires and Critical Thinking Toolkit (CriTT) questionnaires to measure students' critical thinking. Data analysis using the chi-square test. The results of the study found as many as 62 (33.5%) students have an AK (Auditory / Kinesthetic) learning style and as many as 92 (50.5%) students have low critical thinking. The chi-square results found a value of p = 0.020 (p <0.05) so that it shows there is a significant relationship between learning styles and critical thinking in nursing students in the second academic year. Future researchers are expected to conduct research on learning styles with critical thinking involving other factors such as motivation, learning environment, and learning methods used. Future researchers are advised to use longitudinal research designs or other research designs.
