Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a high prevalence worldwide. One of the risk factors that is thought to play a role in increasing blood pressure is psychological stress. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and blood pressure values in patients with hypertension in one of the public health services in Tangerang Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 133 respondents was obtained through purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) questionnaire assess stress level and sphygmomanometer to measure blood pressure. The results of bivariate analysis using Spearman's rank test showed a value of p = 0.285 (p>0.05), which means there is no significant relationship between stress and blood pressure. Thus, this study concludes that there is no significant relationship between stress levels and blood pressure values in hypertensive patients at the study site. Recommendations to future researchers should be directed at productive age groups, given the changing trends and challenges in the management of hypertension at this age.
