Abstract

Minimnya motivasi belajar siswa SMP terhadap materi astronomi sering kali berkaitan dengan rendahnya minat belajar, yang disebabkan oleh metode pembelajaran yang kurang interaktif dan cenderung mengandalkan teks. Banyak siswa kesulitan untuk fokus dan terlibat dalam proses belajar ketika materi tidak disertai visualisasi atau praktik langsung. Padahal, astronomi merupakan cabang sains yang dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, seperti pergerakan planet, gerhana, dan posisi satelit alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah game edukasi berjudul Astra Quest dengan menyajikan mini games 3D dan disesuaikan untuk siswa kelas 7 SMP. Game ini dibangun menggunakan mesin Unity dan mengaplikasikan Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning sebagai dasar perancangannya. Untuk mengukur motivasi siswa, digunakan instrumen Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS). Permainan terdiri dari berbagai mini games seperti urutan Tata Surya, gerhana, satelit planet, dan efek gravitasi. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test menggunakan kuesioner IMMS untuk mengukur perubahan motivasi siswa setelah bermain. Hasil uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar yang signifikan dengan p < 0,05. Dari empat aspek dalam IMMS, aspek Relevance dan Satisfaction mengalami peningkatan besar dengan kategori efek besar yaitu r = -0,550 dan r = -0,679, sedangkan aspek Attention dan Confidence mendapat efek sedang yaitu r = -0,431 dan r = -0,419. Nilai total ARCS juga menunjukkan efek besar yaitu r = -0,586, dengan sebanyak 22 siswa mengalami peningkatan motivasi setelah bermain, sedangkan 7 siswa mengalami penurunan. Dari temuan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa Astra Quest berpotensi menjadi media belajar interaktif yang mampu meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam memahami astronomi. / The lack of motivation among junior high school students to learn astronomy is often linked to their low interest in the subject, which is caused by less interactive teaching methods that rely heavily on text. Many students struggle to stay focused and engaged when the material lacks visualization or hands-on learning. In fact, astronomy is a branch of science that is closely related to everyday life, such as planetary motion, eclipses, and the position of natural satellites. This study aims to develop an educational game titled Astra Quest, which features 3D mini games and is tailored for 7th-grade students. The game was developed using Unity Engine and applies the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning as its design foundation. To measure student motivation, the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS) was used. The game consists of various mini games covering the solar system order, eclipses, planetary satellites, and gravitational effects. The research was conducted using a pre-test and post-test design with the IMMS questionnaire to measure changes in students’ motivation after playing. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test indicated a significant improvement in students' learning motivation with a p-value < 0,05. Among the IMMS aspects, Relevance and Satisfaction showed the high increases with large effect sizes of r = -0,550 and r = -0,679, respectively, while Attention and Confidence showed moderate effect sizes of r = -0,431 dan r = -0,419. The total ARCS score also indicated a large effect size (r = -0,586), with 22 students showing increased motivation after playing, while 7 students experienced a decrease. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Astra Quest has the potential to serve as an interactive learning medium that effectively enhances student motivation in learning astronomy.
