Abstract

Gawai merupakan barang canggih yang berisi berbagai jaringan sosial. Pada tahun 2020, ditemukan rata-rata penggunaan gawai pada usia remaja digunakan 6-8 jam per hari. Peningkatan penggunaan gawai, dapat berkaitan dengan terjadinya gangguan interaksi sosial, khususnya di kalangan remaja. Dampak ini dapat berupa remaja cenderung merasa kurang percaya diri, lebih pendiam, dan lebih suka menyendiri yang akhirnya dapat mempengaruhi kemampuan komunikasi mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan gawai dengan interaksi sosial pada remaja dewasa di satu universitas swasta di Tangerang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian korelasional kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel pada penelitian ini sejumlah 170 orang dengan kriteria usia 18-19 tahun. Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner yang sudah diuji validitas dan reliabilitas oleh peneliti sebelumnya. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis univariat dan analisis bivariat. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Februari-Maret 2025 di satu universitas swasta di Tangerang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas responden memiliki intensitas penggunaan gawai tinggi (54,7%) dan interaksi sosial baik (57,1%). Namun, uji chi-square menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan gawai dengan interaksi sosial (p-value 0,267). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa intensitas penggunaan gawai tidak berhubungan secara signifikan dengan interaksi sosial pada remaja dewasa. Intervensi edukatif tetap diperlukan untuk mendukung penggunaan gawai yang seimbang dalam kehidupan sosial. Sehingga diperlukan pengendalian diri untuk penggunaan gawai dapat lebih efektif dan tidak mengganggu interaksi sosial. Ketika memberikan edukasi kepada responden mengenai pengurangan intensitas penggunaan gawai, diharapkan untuk melihat kembali fungsi gawai yang sering dilakukan oleh responden / Gadgets are sophisticated devices that encompass various social networks. In 2020, it was found that the average usage of gadgets among teenagers ranged from 6 to 8 hours per day. The increase in gadget usage may be related to disruptions in social interactions, particularly among adolescents. This impact can manifest as teenagers tending to feel less confident, becoming more reserved, and preferring solitude, which ultimately affects their communication skills. The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between the intensity of gadget usage and social interaction among young adults at a private university in Tangerang. This study employs a quantitative correlational research method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample for this research consists of 170 individuals aged 18-19 years. The research instrument utilized is a questionnaire that has been validated and tested for reliability by previous researchers. The data analysis techniques used include univariate and bivariate analysis. This research was conducted from February to March 2025 at a private university in Tangerang. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have a high intensity of gadget usage (54,7%) and good social interaction (57,1%). However, the chi-square test shows no significant relationship between the intensity of gadget usage and social interaction (p=0,267). This study concludes that the intensity of gadget usage is not significantly related to social interaction among young adults. Educational interventions are still necessary to support balanced gadget usage in social life. Therefore, self-regulation in gadget usage is essential to ensure it is more effective and does not disrupt social interactions. When providing education to respondents regardingther eduction of gadget usage intensity, it is hoped that they will reconsider the functions of gadgets that they frequently engage with.
