Abstract
Perawatan spiritual merupakan aspek penting dalam praktik keperawatan holistik yang bertujuan untuk merespons kebutuhan spiritual pasien, terutama dalam menghadapi trauma, penyakit kronis, atau kondisi terminal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman mahasiswa keperawatan dalam memberikan perawatan spiritual selama paparan klinis. Desain penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode naratif, dan analisis data dilakukan berdasarkan tahapan analisis tematik Braun & Clarke. Hasil penelitian
mengungkapkan tiga tema utama. Pertama, persepsi mahasiswa terhadap perawatan spiritual menunjukkan bahwa mereka memandangnya sebagai bagian integral dari keperawatan holistik yang mencakup dimensi psikologis, emosional, dan eksistensial pasien, bukan semata kebutuhan religius. Kedua, mahasiswa menghadapi berbagai hambatan dalam praktik, seperti kurangnya pengetahuan, keterampilan praktis, dan kepercayaan diri, serta adanya perbedaan budaya dan keyakinan antara mahasiswa dan pasien. Ketiga, meskipun menghadapi kendala, mahasiswa tetap berusaha memfasilitasi kebutuhan spiritual pasien melalui pendekatan empatik, komunikasi terbuka, dan hubungan terapeutik, serta bekerja sama dengan keluarga dan tim kesehatan lain. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa keperawatan memiliki niat dan sensitivitas dalam memberikan perawatan spiritual, namun masih memerlukan pemahaman konseptual yang lebih kuat, pelatihan yang terstruktur, dan refleksi mendalam agar mampu mengintegrasikan aspek spiritual secara efektif dalam praktik klinis. Pengalaman klinis menjadi momen penting dalam pembentukan kompetensi spiritual dan pengembangan nilai-nilai holistik dalam diri mahasiswa keperawatan/ Spiritual care is a vital component of holistic nursing practice aimed at addressing patients' spiritual needs, particularly in the context of trauma, chronic illness, or terminal conditions. This study explores the experiences of nursing students in providing spiritual care during clinical exposure. A descriptive qualitative research design with a narrative approach was employed, and data analysis followed Braun
and Clarke’s thematic analysis framework. The findings revealed three main themes. First, students perceived spiritual care as an integral part of holistic nursing, encompassing patients’ psychological, emotional, and existential needs beyond religious aspects. Second, various barriers hindered students' ability to provide spiritual care, including lack of knowledge, limited practical skills, low confidence, and cultural or religious differences between students and patients. Third, despite these challenges, students attempted to facilitate patients’ spiritual needs through empathetic approaches, open communication, therapeutic relationships, and collaboration with families and healthcare teams. The study concludes that while nursing students demonstrate empathy and intention in delivering spiritual care, they still require a stronger conceptual foundation, structured training, and reflective practice to effectively integrate spiritual aspects into clinical care. Clinical exposure serves as a critical moment for developing spiritual sensitivity and holistic values in nursing students.
