Abstract
This final project focuses on designing a 2D animated teaser adapted from the webtoon Sri Asih: Celestial Goddess. The background of this project is rooted in the phenomenon of globalization and the advancement of modern technology, which have made foreign pop culture more accessible in Indonesia, resulting in a decline in appreciation for local cultural content. Sri Asih, as one of Indonesia’s first female superheroes created by R.A. Kosasih in 1954, represents an important local figure worth reintroducing to younger generations. Through a relevant and engaging visual approach, this project aims to promote and reintroduce Sri Asih through a one-minute animated teaser video. The adaptation applies character design principles, animation principles, and storytelling theories to translate the climactic scene from episode 3 of the webtoon into animated form. Research for this project included studies on character archetypes, local cultural elements, environment design, and the application of the 12 principles of animation to build visuals that emphasize Indonesian cultural identity. The final result is expected to serve as a reference for adapting local comic content into animated media in Indonesia, while also encouraging greater public interest in local superhero works.
