Abstract

Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara konsumsi fast food dan aktivitas fisik dengan indeks massa tubuh, sehingga disarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya melakukan pendekatan yang lebih luas, menambah variabel dan jumlah responden untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih mendalam./Students who are in the late adolescent stage are a group that is vulnerable to changes in diet and lifestyle due to academic and social pressures, including high consumption of fast food and lack of activity. This study aims to determine the relationship of fast food consumption and activity to the body mass index of nursing students at one of the Indonesian Private Universities. This study used descriptive quantitative method with correlational design and cross sectional approach. The study population was 391 nursing students and the sample size was 198 students using convenience sampling technique. Instruments in the study used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) and measurement of Body Mass Index. Data analysis used Spearman Correlation test. The results showed there was no relationship between fast food consumption and body mass index (p value = 0.974). Physical activity and body mass index also had no significant relationship with a value of (p value = 0.656). The majority of respondents had a normal body mass index (43.94%) and the majority of respondents had moderate activity (52.53%) and the frequency of fast food consumption of respondents was the same. This study concluded that there is no relationship between fast food consumption and physical activity with body mass index, so it is recommended for further research to take a broader approach, add variables and the number of respondents to gain a deeper understanding.
