This study aims to examine the legal implications of notaries concurrently serving as commissioners in limited liability companies (LLCs), as well as assess the impact of such dual roles on the principles of independence and integrity in the notarial profession. In Indonesia's legal system, notaries play a vital role in ensuring legal certainty through the preparation of authentic deeds that are impartial and trustworthy. However, holding dual positions potentially creates conflicts of interest that undermine public trust in the legal instruments issued. This research employs a normative legal approach through a literature-based study method, analyzing statutory regulations, legal doctrines, and scholarly opinions. Secondary data, including primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, serve as the main sources.The analysis reveals that although the role of commissioner is not explicitly listed under the prohibitions in Article 17 of the Notary Law, the position is part of a company’s power structure and carries a substantial risk of conflicts of interest. This dual role contradicts the notary’s obligation to maintain impartiality and professional independence as a public official. Furthermore, deeds issued by notaries in breach of this principle may lose their legal validity. Oversight is conducted by the Notary Supervisory Council (MPN), but enforcement remains weak due to the absence of preventive mechanisms. Therefore, it is essential to improve legal administrative systems by integrating automatic verification tools within platforms such as SABH/AHU Online. This would prevent notaries from authorizing deeds for companies in which they hold a position as commissioner. Strengthening ethical and legal compliance in the notarial profession is crucial to uphold public confidence and preserve the integrity of legal services.
