Abstract
Dengan kata kunci: Child, Child, Preschool, Pediatrics, Child Nutrition Sciences AND Sugar Sweetened Beverages, Dietary Sugar, Artificially Sweetened Beverages, Sugary Foods AND Kidney Disease, Kidney Failure, Chronic, Renal Insufficiency, Acute Kidney Injury. / Background: Kidney disease, which is defined as a progressive decline in kidney function, is the 10th leading cause of death in Indonesia. Consuming excessive amounts of sugary foods and drinks increases the risk of obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Fructose triggers inflammation, oxidative stress, and the accumulation of toxic substances that can further damage the kidneys. Consequently, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases, exacerbating kidney damage in children. Research Objective: The consumption of sugary foods and drinks is associated with an increased risk of pediatric kidney disease. Research Methods: The method used is a literature study using PubMed, ProQuest and EBSCO databases. With keywords: Child, Children, Preschool, Pediatrics, Child Nutrition Science AND Sugar-Sweetened Beverages, Dietary Sugars, Artificially Sweetened Beverages, Sugary Foods AND Kidney Disease, Kidney Failure, Chronic, Renal Insufficiency, Acute Kidney Injury. Results: Based on a study of 11 articles, it was found that excessive consumption of sugary foods and beverages in children is associated with an increased risk of metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes that contribute to decreased kidney function. Consumption patterns are reinforced by environmental factors such as the availability of sugary drinks at home and school, lack of education, and the influence of advertising, which causes children to prefer sugary drinks over water. The involvement of nurses, communities and schools in health promotion and sugar restriction policies has been shown to play a role in reducing the risk of excessive sugar consumption in children.
