Abstract

Kerusakan kulit akibat radikal bebas memicu stres oksidatif, sehingga dibutuhkan antioksidan untuk melindungi sel kulit. Penelitian ini menyoroti peran antioksidan dalam melindungi sel kulit dari kerusakan akibat radikal bebas yang memicu stres oksidatif. Ketika antioksidan alami tubuh tidak cukup, diperlukan asupan tambahan seperti biji pinang yang kaya akan alkaloid, flavonoid, dan tanin. Biji pinang dapat diolah menjadi serum wajah berbasis liposom yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Ekstrak etanol biji pinang menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat dengan IC50 sebesar 2,3683 ± 0,002 ppm menggunakan metode DPPH dan kadar total flavonoid 72,7896 ± 0,48 mgQE/g. Formula liposom (kolesterol : lesitin = 1 : 10) optimal mengandung 7,5% ekstrak etanol biji pinang dengan nilai %EE 93,3639 ± 0,0575% menggunakan metode hidrasi lapis tipis dan partikel rata rata 435,770 nm, nilai IP 2,22 serta nilai zeta potensial rata rata -8,2 mV. Serum wajah dengan formula terbaik adalah formula 3 yang mengandung 30% suspensi liposom ekstrak etanol biji pinang dengan IC50 317,80 ± 0,039436 ppm. Analisis statistik melalui ANOVA One Way menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan dalam aktivitas antioksidan formula serum wajah dengan p-value < 0,05. Data evaluasi fisik dan aktivitas antioksidan sebelum dan sesudah cycling test menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan melalui uji paired t-test dengan p-value < 0,05. Sediaan ini rentan terhadap perubahan suhu ekstrem, sehingga diperlukan uji stabilitas jangka panjang untuk mengevaluasi kestabilannya selama penyimpanan dalam kondisi normal./Skin damage from free radicals triggers oxidative stress, necessitating antioxidants to protect skin cells. This study highlights antioxidants' role in preventing such damage. When natural antioxidants are insufficient, additional sources like areca seed, rich in alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins, are needed. Areca seed can be formulated into a liposome-based facial serum with strong antioxidant activity. Extraction uses maceration with 96% ethanol. The ethanolic areca seed extract shows strong antioxidant activity (IC50 = 2.3683 ± 0.002 ppm, DPPH method) and a total flavonoid content of 72.7896 ± 0.48 mgQE/g. The optimal liposome formula (cholesterol: lecithin = 1:10) contains 7.5% extract, with an %EE of 93.36 ± 0.06%, an average particle size of 435.77 nm, an IP of 2.22, and a zeta potential of -8.2 mV. The best serum formula (Formula 3) contains 30% liposomal extract suspension, with IC50 = 317.80 ± 0.039 ppm. One-Way ANOVA reveals significant differences in antioxidant activity (p < 0.05). Physical evaluation and antioxidant activity tests before and after cycling indicate significant differences (paired t-test, p < 0.05). This formulation is sensitive to extreme temperature changes, requiring long-term stability testing under normal storage conditions.
