Abstract

Tanah merupakan elemen penting dalam konstruksi teknik sipil, terutama dalam menopang beban bangunan. Tanah lempung yang umumnya memiliki daya dukung rendah serta sifat plastisitas dan kembang susut yang tinggi, sehingga memerlukan perbaikan agar memenuhi kelayakan sebagai tanah dasar pekerjaan konstruksi. Perbaikan tanah dapat dilakukan melalui metode stabilisasi kimiawi. Perbaikan dengan metode stabilisasi memanfaatkan serbuk batu bukho sebagai material alternatif. Serbuk batu bukho merupakan material lokal yang banyak ditemukan di wilayah Sumatera Utara, khususnya di Kepulauan Nias. Serbuk batu bukho berpotensi meningkatkan daya dukung tanah karena kandungan senyawanya yang mirip kapur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan serbuk batu bukho terhadap sifat fisik dan kuat tekan tanah lempung baik ditinjau dari kadar serbuk batu bukho maupun waktu pemeramannya. Penelitian ini meliputi pengujian karakteristik tanah asli dan tanah stabilisasi dengan uji batas atterberg, berat jenis, serta analisa saringan dan hidrometer. Selain itu, dilakukan uji pemadatan untuk menentukan kadar air optimum dan berat isi kering maksimum. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian kuat tekan bebas (Unconfined Compression Test) pada tanah asli dan tanah yang distabilisasi. Variasi kadar serbuk batu bukho yang digunakan adalah 0%, 3%, 6%, 9% dan 12% dengan waktu pemeraman 0, 7, 14, dan 28 hari menggunakan metode pemeraman tertutup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan serbuk batu bukho mempengaruhi karakteristik tanah lempung, ditandai dengan penurunan batas cair dan indeks plastisitas, serta peningkatan berat isi kering tanah. Waktu pemeraman terbukti meningkatkan nilai kuat tekan tanah, dengan peningkatan optimal terjadi pada pemeraman 14 hari. Perubahan karakteristik tanah yang paling efektif terjadi pada penambahan serbuk batu bukho sebesar 3% dan 6%, dengan kuat tekan tertinggi dicapai pada kadar 6%. Penambahan serbuk batu bukho lebih dari 6% tidak memberikan peningkatan kuat tekan tanah. / Soil is an important element in Civil Engineering, primarily serving to support structural loads. Clay soil generally has a low bearing capacity, high plasticity, and significant shrinkage. Soil stabilization using chemical methods can improve the properties of clay soil, making it suitable for use as subgrade material. Improvement is achieved through the stabilization method, using Bukho stone powder as an alternative material. This Bukho stone powder is a locally abundant resource from North Sumatra, particularly Nias Island. Bukho stone powder has the potential to improve the bearing capacity because of the similar chemical property to limestone. This research aims to investigate the effect of Bukho stone powder on physical properties and compressive strength, considering the Bukho stone powder content and curing time. This research includes tests such as the Atterberg limit test, specific gravity test, sieve analysis, and hydrometer analysis to determine the original characteristics of clay soil and stabilized clay soil. In addition, compaction tests were conducted to determine the optimum moisture content and maximum dry density. Lastly, unconfined compression tests were performed on both the original soil and the stabilized soil. The variation of Bukho stone powder content used in the stabilized soil was 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12%, with curing times of 0, 7, 14, and 28 days using the closed curing method. The results indicated that the addition of Bukho stone powder influenced the characteristics of the clay soil, showed by a decrease in both the liquid limit and plastic limit, as well as an increase in dry density. Curing time also contributed to the enhancement of the bearing capacity of the clay soils, with the most significant improvement observed at 14 days of curing. The most effective changes in the soil properties occurred at Bukho stone powder contents of 3% and 6%. Increasing the Bukho stone powder content beyond 6% did not result in significant further improvements.
